  y1847

The family of Yonathan Eliashberg (ca.1847-1898) is included in the 1874 Kaunas family list. Yonathan served as a Rabbi in Kupiskes, Lith. and in Mariampole, Lith. (from 1877 to 1887). From 1888 he served as a Rabbi in Vilkaviskis, Lith (or was it Volkovysk, Byel?). In 1897, nine years after the death of his father Rabbi Mordechai, Yonathan published the whole book of "Trumat Yad" and also a collection of articles "Shvil Ha'Zahav ("The Golden Path") that were written by his father Mordechai but had not been published before. Rabbi Yonathan died in Vilkaviskis (or was it Volkovysk?) in 1898.

Judging from Hamelitz (# 184"; 1893) Yonathan had a son whose name was Yosef who married Gitl Grosberg in Trestina (Trzciznne, Pol.).
